80 Years

Our second trip in April was to Louisville, Kentucky to celebrate Adam's grandmother's 80th Birthday! First of all, this lady does not act or look like she could possibly be 80 years old. She is a spunky, world-traveling, card playing, loving lady who loves her family more than life itself. She is full of life and boy do we love her! I hope I have half her energy when I am her age. She has welcomed me into her family with such grace and open arms. She has 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is so great with all of the kids. The family planned a birthday party to celebrate. They rented out the club house and had dinner and dancing with a DJ. All the kids had an absolutely wonderful time dancing the night away. They danced from the time we got there until the DJ stopped playing. And of course Lyla was right there in the mix. She was the youngest (Dalton was not able to come because of his surgery) and the older kids took Lyla in and loved her so well. She was not shy at all and loved every minute with all the other kids. It was a wonderful time seeing family and friends that had known MawMaw for years and celebrating her.

Watching a slideshow of pictures of her life.

Dancing Queen (she gets this from her daddy)

Everyone had a chance to say a sweet memory they had of Joan. Donna taking her turn.

Cady and Lyla playing. Cady was SO great with Lyla!

She was definitely the center of attention with all the kids.

Birthday Cake...with all 80 candles!

Brian was a little worried the fire from the candles might get out of control :)

Make a wish!

Of course my camera stayed in my bag the rest of the weekend except for the actual party, but we had such a wonderful time with Adam's family. We played games, played outside, ate and laughed a lot. Lyla did so wonderful waking up early, staying up late and missing naps. She did not miss a beat and loved having built-in playmates the entire weekend. The car ride home was a different story, but oh well!! It was worth it. Happy Birthday MawMaw, we love you and can't wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you!
