We got back in the swing of things after our big Labor Day trip. Lyla started school Tuesday and Thursdays. She LOVES school. She has made several sweet friends and loves her teachers. They are so great. Ms Cathy and Ms Karen are the perfect first teachers for Lyla. She gets so excited to go to school and I love having a little bit of time to get things done. I try to get the "not fun" things done while she is at school so that when Lyla is home, we can focus on doing the fun things.
We hit up Chick-fil-a for their free breakfast.
We went to the park and had a nasty fall. Her poor little face!! But in typical Lyla fashion, she is such a tough girl. She was up kicking the ball around not long after this happened. And oh yeah, picture day at school was the next day.
We had a super fun play date with the Vaccaro's at the zoo. The zoo is always fun and it is even more fun with sweet friends. Hannah and Lyla always have such a great time together!
Riding the train. Do you think Lyla loves Hannah??
We had a surprise 80th birthday celebration for my grandmother (my mom's mom). All her kids came in town for the big celebration. We hosted lunch at Maggiano's in a private banquet room. It was so nice and I know it filled my Nana's heart with such love having her kids as well some of her grandkids and her great-grandchild there to celebrate her.
Nana and Sarah.
Lyla is excited about some yummy Maggiano's.
I must say, Maggiano's is one of my favorite places. Not only do I love the food, but it was where Adam took me the night he proposed and it is where his parent's hosted our rehearsal dinner.
The girls.
Nana and the boys.
Nana and her four kids.
Nana, three of her granddaughters, and her great-granddaughter. All together she has five grandsons, four granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
Aunt Pauline and Uncle Kent. She is Nana's youngest daughter.
Dan and Allison.
The four kids.
Our family.
The yummy lunch.
Opening birthday gifts. Of course the professional gift opener had her services requested.
She loves her Nana. They have a sweet relationship. When I work during the week (Tuesday or Thursday nights), Nana comes over to play with Lyla until Adam comes home. It works out great! Helps us out and they get some special time together.
Everyone!
Happy Birthday Nana!! We love you and are so glad we got to celebrate your big day!
The month ended on a note that every homeowner dreads. Finding out that you have MAJOR plumbing issues that you have to take care of.
Our toilets kept backing up, which is never good. The first few times we just thought it was a "too much toilet paper issue". Then I started noticing a "smell" from the guest bathroom. I could not figure out where is was coming from. Finally it came to a point where Adam could no longer unclog the toilet and he called in a professional. THANK GOODNESS I was at work when he came because I probably would have DIED to be there when he found what he found. The guest bathroom tub was almost completely FILLED with backed up TOILET water (and other things). OH.MY.GOSH. DISGUSTING.
SERIOUSLY.
I have the best husband in the world because after the professional got everything moving again, Adam cleaned the tub for me. I have the worst gag reflex in the world and no way could have handled it, but it was an awful job for anyone. Thought the problem was solved.
Not. Even. Close.
The toilet backed up again. The professionals came back again. They gave us the bad news.
80ft of pipe along the front of the house would need to be replaced.
4-5 feet down.
And oh yeah, the broken pipe, at the end of the driveway also needs to be replaced because of a tree root.
7-8 feet down.
Besides buying a house and a car, this is the most and quickest money we spent in three days!!! They completed the work quickly, so no complaints there. Still not something you want to spend money on. It is so hard spending money on something you can't see. But something that had to be done. So please, come use the bathrooms at our house and know that there was money well spent as you flush! Unfortunately it was not the end of our plumping issues :(
We finished the month spending the day at the aquarium with our new friends from Lyla's class, the Rutherford's. Lyla and Cooper have become fast friends and are so cute together. They live literally around the corner from our house and we are so thankful the Lord put us together. They are the sweetest people and we are loving getting to know them. They even go to our church, we had just never met before. Our families have so much fun together and we love having play dates with them!
Lyla and Cooper get mistaken for brother and sister all the time. They definitely look like they could be!!
Little did I know that I would be finding out some life changing news the next morning...
